TWELVE MONTHS

MORGAN ONE YEAR!!!!
Morgan turned one on April 20, 2010. The past month Morgan went to Virginia for the Cherry Blossom Festival, saw her Daddy graduate with his Masters, and had multiple Birthday parties. She can get anywhere she wants to go by crawling or walking holding onto something. She is trying to climb onto the furniture but can't get her leg up high enough yet. She has started to let me finger walk her however as soon as I let go she either starts crawling or pouting. Morgan has learned to pout when she is not happy which was cute at first but is now something we try and stop immediately when she starts so it doesn't become a habit. We have also started to reduce the use of her pacifier to nap/bedtime only. She does well without the pacifier at home however when she goes to church or Baby Swap she still uses it. Morgan has a bunny for a lovie and we have taught her to give the paci to bunny and leave bunny in the crib. We are hoping that by learning to give the paci to her bunny that she will 'understand' that the new baby can have a paci without her needing one too (big hope on our part). She continues to love dress-up and will put her 'bracletes' on (anything round that will go on her wrist), throw a purse over her shoulder, try and put on a pair of socks, and try to brush her hair. Morgan also loves to sort items and to put things into and out of something that can be closed and opened. She will play peek-a-boo with her hands and claps her hands when she is happy. She says MaMa, DaDa, NaNa (which we think is her way of saying no/I'm mad), and A-Da (which we have not figured out yet). She is now off of formula and drinking whole milk. Her favorite things to eat are bananans, cheese, yogurt, apple sauce, puffs, and yogurt bites. She does well with meats, fruits, and dairy however does not like to eat finger food vegetables (she still eats them if they are pureed). She was slightly anemic so we are giving her a multi-vitamin with iron. Her hair is getting long and despite my many attempts she still will not keep a bow in her hair. I will have to work on finding some way to get her hair up because it now hangs in her eyes and she gets food in it at every meal. Morgan is meeting all of her milestones and had a good one year check-up. We are still discussing with physicians the best time and place to have the cyst on her forehead removed. The doctors are recommending it be removed sooner than later due to the placement on her forehead and its continue growth. We are going to see a pediatric plastic surgeoun at Shands Gainesville to discuss surgery options. Morgan's measurements at one year: 29 1/4 in long (75%), 20 lbs 4 oz (25%), and has a head circumference of 46 cm (75-90%).
