A Growing Family: MORGAN 15 MONTHS

15 MONTHS

Morgan has surpassed the baby stage and is now a toddler! She is walking and trying to run. She keeps her self busy with her new found love for dolls and her continued love for sorting things. Morgan continues to play with her push toys but now that she is able to walk she is more interested in pushing things over. She really enjoys being outside and playing with water. We spend a lot of evenings in the pool although Morgan enjoys climbing in/out more than playing in the pool. She actually prefers her little pool to the regular pool. She has started to learn some sign language and does the sign for more, please, all done, and hat. She is trying to babble but still has limited words...MaMa, DaDa, More, Hat, Hi, Ball, Ba (for Banana), Hi, and All Done. I volunteered with VBS this summer so Morgan was around a group of kids her age everyday. She was very shy and had major separation anxiety the first few days but got better throughout the week. After that week, she was in a summer preschool program on Tues/Thurs from 7:30 to 2pm. It was a blessing for me and her. She learned a lot and I got to rest two days a week. She learned the song "If your happy and you know it" and we think "Ring around the rosie" because she has started to twirl around in a circle when you sing the song. She is eating anything she will attempt. She still will not touch a Cheerio or Gold Fish. Her main foods are oatmeal, bananas, strawberries, cheese sticks, yogurt, crackers, and baby hot dogs. She would eat bananas and strawberries all day long if we would let her. My mom (Grammy) taught her how to drink out of a straw which is wonderful because she can drink from a glass at a restaurant and out of a juice box. I have been working on getting her to color however she prefers to break the crayons and eat them. The area were she had the hemangioma removed has fully resolved and the scar above her eyebrow is slowly losing its red color. Her hair is long and thick enough (although very fine) to cover the scars at the scalp and I am no longer being asked what my child hit her head on when I go places! I have started to put her hair in pig tails almost everyday because it hangs down into her eyes and Im not ready to give her bangs. We have started to discipline her more than just saying No-No and she is a drama queen when she is being 'punished'. She is full of energy and has an amazing personality that we love. Her stats from her 15 month check up were: 31 1/4 (75%) and 22 pounds (25%).
