MORGAN'S SURGERY

REMOVING THE BUMP

On May 25th 2010, Morgan had surgery to remove the 'bump' on her forehead. A biopsy was performed and it was determined that the growth was a hemangioma. A hemangioma is a benign vascular tumor that is usually red, if on top of the skin, or bluish, if under the skin. The doctors did not think that it was a hemangioma because Morgan's bump did not have any coloring. Carl and I are very thankful that it did not present like a typical hemangioma. Even though Morgan is very young, we decided to have the surgery to remove the growth because its location increased the risk of it affecting her vision or nasal passages. Thanks to God's blessing and everyone's prayers she made it through the surgery well and recovered quickly. The pictures look horrible but it didn't seem to bother Morgan. She was very playful even the night of surgery.

Her eyes were swollen shut when she first woke up. We had to keep her stitches moist so her hair looked greasy for the next month.

5 Days Post-Op.

The swelling was drastically improved and the red circles around her eyes were almost gone.

One Month Post-Op

The swelling was localized to the area were the hemangioma was located and only minimal discoloration remained. Morgan is as happy as she can be-Bump or no Bump!
